About Ashley:

I was born in Germany to military parents and spent my childhood moving a lot before finally settling down in Iowa. I enjoy reading (I have a personal goal to read 75 books each year!) social media, sewing, my chihuahua-dachshund mix Lucy, coffee, traveling, DIY home decor/design, social justice, mentoring & career services, among other things! I live in Shawnee with my husband and little Lucy.

First job:

My first job was working at Pizza Ranch in my small hometown—all of my siblings also worked there!

What do you wish you had known about career development that you know now?

I wish I had diversified my education a little more with a variety of classes and taken more advantage of leadership opportunities.

Her advice to students?

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and introduce yourself to individuals who inspire you or are doing cool things—you never know what could happen!
