Financial Accountant
Position Summary
The Financial Accountant performs multiple accounting and finance functions with a focus on Community Care of North Carolina’s (“CCNC”) national pharmacy network, CPESN USA LLC (“CPESN”). The Senior Accountant is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting for CPESN, including preparation of annual financial statements, support for annual audit and tax returns, board level reporting, contract, pharmacy and vendor oversight, and other general accounting tasks.
Essential Functions
- Serve as primary point of contact to CPESN operations.
- Provide financial guidance to CPESN operations team and Board of Managers.
- Perform the financial accounting and reporting functions for CPESN, including but not limited to accounts payable (vendor onboarding, vendor bill initiation, review resolution, contract verification, and coding), accounts receivable (invoicing), general accounting journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee the participation fee process, including invoicing, collections and write-offs, Stripe account maintenance, coordination with CPESN operations, reconciliations, and cash-to-GAAP conversion.
- Provide financial oversight for CPESN payer and network fee share programs, including cash receipts and disbursements, revenue recognition, and coordination with CPESN operations.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and present to the Executive Director and Board of Managers, including budget to actual reports by program and vendor, vendor analyses, balance sheet and cash projections, among others.
- Prepare quarterly billings for services rendered from CCNC to CPESN.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of the annual budget with CPESN management.
- Support contract tracking process, including financial review prior to execution, and tracking terms in contract system (Concord), to ensure appropriate accounting and revenue recognition.
- Support Accounting team in annual audit and tax returns for CPESN USA.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in terms of reduced touches/errors and cost savings.
- Monitor financial performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances.
- Assist in the selection and implementation of new technology, as needed.
- Ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed.
- Other tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- BS in Accounting, Finance, or related degree
- Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred
- 5+ years of accounting/finance department experience, ideally with 2+ years in healthcare and/or start-up environment
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Netsuite strongly preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision
- Self-motivation, time management, and technical literacy to work collaboratively in a remote environment
- Self-starter with solid organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities or reprioritization of projects
- Empathy, interpersonal and communication skills in a virtual setting
- Must be willing to have camera on for virtual meetings
- Ability to analyze and manipulate large amounts of data
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment

- After hours meetings/phone calls/webinars may occasionally be required
- Travel to meetings/conferences may be needed several times per year
