Position Overview
Insurance Insider US Research is looking for a Equity Research Associate (Property & Casualty Insurance) to join its growing Research team in New York. Reporting to the Director of Research, this role will support long-form analytical research focused on the US P&C insurance market.
This position is well suited to a recent graduate or early-career professional with a background in finance, banking, economics, or financial analysis, who is eager to learn and develop strong data and research skills in a fast-paced editorial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data & Analysis
- Stay on top of news and trends for assigned companies and the broader P&C insurance industry
- Track data in Excel models and build tables showing key financial metrics to support research narratives
- Use external data sources to develop supporting exhibits and analysis
- Visualize financial and statistical data to clearly convey a thesis or insight
Research & Writing (as skills develop)
- Contribute to analysis notes covering company, industry, and thematic trends
- Connect the dots for readers, simplifying complex financial concepts and highlighting material developments
Other Responsibilities
- Attend company conferences and industry events for networking and market insight
- Meet with market executives and industry participants at external meetings
You’ll Get Hands-On With
- Excel-based financial and statistical data analysis
- Financial metrics, company performance data, and industry trends
- External financial and business data sources
- Data visualization to support written research
Experience / Person Specification
- College graduate with a degree or experience in finance, banking, economics, or a related field
- Comfortable performing quantitative analysis and clearly communicating results
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, large datasets)
- Able to operate at speed in an environment where accuracy is essential
- Strong ability to identify patterns and trends in numerical data
- Proactive, curious, and analytical mindset
- Able to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
- Friendly, approachable, and collaborative attitude
- Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn
Direct experience writing about insurance is not required. An understanding of basic financial concepts and metrics is preferred but not essential.
