About the Job:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant Railroad, Concrete, and Asphalt teams for an exciting summer internship! Throughout your internship, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the diverse facets of construction, while contributing to multiple departments such as Pre-Construction, Project Management, and Field Operations. This experience promises not only exposure to the intricacies of the industry but also invaluable hands-on involvement in shaping real-world projects. When: June 1 – August 7, 2026
Where: Overland Park, Kansas
Hours: Typical full-time work schedule (40 hours/week)
Pay: $19-21 an hour (dependent on experience)
Responsibilities
- Actively represent M&H at networking events and professional organizations to build partnerships
- Monitor bid boards for new opportunities and communicate vetted leads directly to the Estimating Team.
- Manage professional outreach through phone calls, face-to-face meetings, and lunches to maintain strong account relationships
- Follow up on incoming inquiries and assist in the preparation of initial proposals and project submittals
- Attend site visits and communicate client expectations to Operations team to ensure successful bid completion
- Particiapte in business unit meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
School Requirements
- Actively enrolled in a construction-related or business degree program, having completed at least one year, and in good academic standing
- Ability to provide internship requirements as mandated by school or relevant program
Other Requirements
- Ability to work full-time hours at the M&H Overland Park Office
- Familiarity with computer programs such as Google Docs and Sheets (and/or Microsoft Word/Excel)
- You must own boots acceptable to wear on job sites. All other PPE will be provided.
- You will be required to navigate an active job site
- Interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
- A willingness to learn and grow
Physical Demands
- Ability to safely navigate an active worksite. Occasionally walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, and loud noises
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
