The Student-Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO) is looking for UMKC undergraduate and graduate students to serve as academic tutors for the FALL semester. Academic tutors provide subject specific instructional support and promote independent learning. They work with student-athletes in one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in the SASSO study hall or virtually. They must maintain a high level of knowledge in their academic content area, be patient, enthusiastic and uphold academic integrity, NCAA and University regulations at all times.
This is an online, part-time position that requires 3-15 hours per week based on need. Both hourly and tuition-based positions available.
Expectations and Responsibilities for SASSO Tutors:
•Assist students to understand course material.
•Promote independent learning.
•Report to all tutoring sessions on time and ready to work.
•Maintain confidentiality of a student-athlete’s academic situation.
•Work with the SASSO staff to ensure success of the student.
•Ensure compliance with NCAA, Summit League and UMKC academic eligibility requirements, policies and procedures.
•Ensure and uphold academic integrity by following NCAA, UMKC and SASSO policies.
•Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
•Promote independent learning for student-athletes.
Requirements for applicants:
•Must be a current UMKC undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student
•Must be flexible
•Must be able to work days, nights and weekends
•Must be able to work with students with all ability levels
• Previous tutoring experience
• Knowledge and mastery of both lower level and upper level subjects/courses

- Spanish 110, 120, 211
- Math 116, 110, 210, 220
- Health Sciences
